These are "notes from the home office in Edmond, Oklahoma" most often written by Janet Singer,
but occasionally by others. NFO deals principally with EDRA membership
issues, rather than esoteric issues of E&B research or practice.
In Memoriam: Janet Singer
With deep sadness we relate the loss of Janet Singer, EDRA's long time Executive Director. Janet passed away from her battle with pancreatic cancer on April 17, 2010 surrounded by family in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Janet Marie Crum Singer was born in Oceanside, CA and raised in a military family living in California, Virginia, and North Carolina before settling in Edmond, OK. She graduated from Central State University and worked in her father's accounting firm before eventually taking over the firm herself. It was from this financial background that Janet first came to the attention of EDRA.

Dr. Connell was a health research scientist at the Atlanta VA Medical Center, director of research for the Geriatrics Research, Education and Clinical Center and assistant professor of medicine in Geriatrics and Gerontology at Emory University.
Her career interests focused on the effects of the physical and social environments on the lives of the frail and the elderly. Dr. Connell had a great affection for the underrepresented and spent her life advocating for them. Her endless commitment and effort to improve the lives of the elderly and their caregivers was hugely successful and carries on through her many publications, research findings and in those mentored by her. Bettye Rose was respected and loved by many.

Bettye Rose was a lifelong member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Warrenton. She was a passionate gardener and a devoted cat lover. Survivors include a sister, Jane Connell Wilson of Warrenton, and a nephew, Matthew Connell Wilson of New York City.
Are there any EDRA members who are interested in the question of how designers interrogate and integrate research to their design proposals? How can the interaction between primary change agents (designers) and scientific research be optimized? How can evidence be presented in a designer-friendly manner? How can we build new pedagogical models to teach the interaction between research aspects and design decision making?
